Some weddings have a way of feeling like they belong to another time, and Briegé and Conor’s day in Christchurch was one of them. From the moment the morning sunlight flickered across the old Tai Tapu Church turned BnB where the girls were getting ready, there was a sense of timelessness.
The details were chosen with such care — a lace gown that felt both classic and effortless, florals in dusky pinks and creamy whites, and a polished vintage car with leather seats that looked as though it had rolled straight out of another era.
As the day unfolded, the atmosphere carried that same cinematic energy. Conor’s sharp three-piece suit and flat cap were a subtle nod to Peaky Blinders, giving him a bold, vintage edge that paired beautifully with Briegé’s soft and elegant bridal look. Together they created a balance of grit and grace — the perfect reflection of their personalities and their story.
Their ceremony in Christchurch brought together family and friends in a setting that was both heartfelt and intimate. When we slipped away afterwards for portraits, the Canterbury hills gave us the most striking backdrop. Against the golden light of late afternoon, we caught those in-between moments — a glance, a laugh, a quiet pause — all of it framed by the landscape that makes this part of New Zealand so unforgettable. Some portraits carried the afterglow of sun through the forested leaves, while others leaned into shadow and mood, reminding me why I love creating wedding photography that feels more like cinema than stills.
The reception carried that same warmth and character, with candlelight bouncing across the room, laughter spilling between tables, and a cake adorned with soft blooms echoing the colours of the day. Their first dance beneath the chandelier was pure magic — a blur of motion, connection, and joy that set the tone for the night ahead. Later, the dance floor came alive in a way that only weddings do — full of energy, movement, and the kind of moments you want to relive again and again.
Briegé and Conor’s wedding was more than a beautiful day — it was a celebration of heritage, romance, and timeless style. For me, as a Christchurch wedding photographer, it was the kind of day that reminds me why I love to tell stories through light, movement, and emotion. If you’re planning your own wedding in Canterbury and are drawn to a blend of cinematic photography and vintage charm, I’d love to hear your story and capture it in a way that feels just as unforgettable.
