It’s about noticing and preserving those moments with authenticity and care. This is what guides my approach to engagement photography in Christchurch - a considered balance of gentle direction and quiet observation, so your photographs feel effortless, emotional, and deeply connected to your story.
The ease of being with your person. There are these softer moments, and that’s what I love to capture. My hope is for your portraits to feel like a deep exhale, that when you revisit them, you remember what it felt like to be exactly you, together, unguarded and whole.
An engagement session is a chance to slow down and spend some time together before the wedding day. There is no pressure to perform or know what to do in front of the camera. My approach is relaxed and natural, with gentle guidance when needed and plenty of space for genuine moments to unfold.
As a Christchurch engagement photographer, I photograph couples throughout Christchurch and North Canterbury, from the Port Hills and Lyttelton to Sumner, Godley Head and Waikuku Beach, along with many beautiful locations in between. Whether you are drawn to the coastline, rolling hills, tranquil gardens, reflective lakes, open countryside or an urban setting, we can choose a location that feels meaningful to you.
Many couples tell me they feel nervous about being photographed, but there is no need to know exactly what to do. An engagement session is a wonderful way to celebrate this season of your lives together, while also helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day.
Some of the most meaningful photographs are the unscripted moments you didn't even realise were happening — the fleeting expressions, quiet connections and little interactions that tell the story of your relationship. While I will help you feel comfortable in front of the camera, I am always watching for those in-between moments that are uniquely yours.
My goal is to create photographs that feel authentic, emotional and true to who you are together. Some of my favourite images are often the candid moments in between — the laughter, quiet glances and genuine interactions that can't be posed or recreated. By creating a relaxed and natural experience, I can focus on capturing the connection, emotion and little moments that make your relationship uniquely yours.
